Our Mission
Native Wind was formed to protect the environment and promote the welfare of indigenous people by facilitating the development of renewable energy resources on tribal lands. Specific goals include:
Educating
the public about the benefits of renewable energy development
on tribal lands
Secure
public and private financial and other support for renewable
energy development on tribal lands
Promote
local use and export of tribal renewable energy; promote markets
for tribal renewable energy and renewable energy credits.
Secure
electric grid access for tribal renewable energy projects.
The Board of Directors of Native Wind includes representatives of the Intertribal Council On Utility Policy, Native Energy, ICLEI, Honor the Earth and American Spirit Productions.

Individual
citizens can buy green tags directly and support renewable
energy. More
Intertribal
COUP is working with local governments that
seek to buy green power -- ICLEI cities and others.
Utilities
that buy power from WAPA are likely customers for Native
Wind power.
Federal
instututions (ie. the Air Force, the national energy laboratories,
etc) seeking to comply with renewable energy directives.
